Research into the spread and control of brucellosis

Brucellosis is a significant public health challenge in Tanzania, where the disease is widespread, yet commonly misdiagnosed. It can be caused by various Brucella bacteria species. However, which Brucella and animal species are the most important source of human infections remain unknown.

Researchers, led by Dr Jo Halliday, will investigate this question, with the aim of providing the evidence base to inform control policy, including possible livestock vaccination strategies.
